At Royal Institute Campus (RIC), student wellbeing is recognised as an essential part of academic success, personal development and a positive university experience. As part of the University of London’s commitment to supporting students across its global network of Recognised Teaching Centres, RIC has an appointed Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead who has been trained and certified through the University of London initiative.

Profile and contact details –
The Mental Health and Wellbeing component aims to create a supportive, inclusive and compassionate learning environment in which students feel recognised, respected and able to seek guidance when facing personal, emotional or academic challenges.
The programme promotes mental health awareness, early support and responsible referral while helping to reduce the stigma associated with discussing mental health. It also strengthens RIC’s ability to identify students who may require additional assistance and guide them towards
appropriate support.
University life can involve academic pressure, adjustment difficulties, personal concerns and uncertainty about the future. Through this initiative, students have access to an identifiable and approachable point of contact who can listen to their concerns, provide initial guidance and help them understand the support options available.

Value to the RIC Student Experience
The Mental Health and Wellbeing component adds an important dimension to the overall RIC student experience by recognising that academic development and personal wellbeing are closely connected. Students are supported not only in completing their qualifications, but also in developing resilience, self-awareness, confidence and healthy approaches to managing challenges.
Having a University of London-trained and certified Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead strengthens the connection between RIC and the University’s wider commitment to student welfare. It also ensures that wellbeing is incorporated into the student journey rather than being addressed only when a serious difficulty arises.
Through this initiative, RIC seeks to foster a campus culture in which students feel that they belong, know where to seek help and are encouraged to care for their mental health throughout their studies. This contributes to stronger academic engagement, more meaningful relationships and a safer, more supportive and fulfilling university experience
